Our VAT team reviews how your business actually earns revenue, buys goods and services, imports, exports and invoices customers before deciding the correct VAT treatment.
Tell us whether you need registration, a return, a transaction review, a refund, a correction or FTA support, and we step in at that point.
Registration Returns Refunds FTA Support
Tell us where your VAT stands — registering, filing, correcting an old return or under FTA review — and one of our consultants will come back to you.
The approvals and registrations behind the work.
Many VAT firms in Abu Dhabi can submit a return. The bigger risk is whether the numbers behind that return are correct. Bestax checks the sales ledger, purchase ledger, tax codes, invoices, import records and adjustments before a filing issue becomes an FTA issue.
Our work is designed to connect VAT with your accounting records. If the figures do not reconcile, we identify the gap before submission and tell you whether the fix belongs in the accounting records, the VAT return or a separate disclosure.
If your books are incomplete or have fallen behind, we can combine the VAT review with Backlog Accounting Services so the return is based on clean records rather than estimates.

You do not always need a full VAT project. Sometimes the problem is a registration deadline, a return that does not reconcile, an old mistake, a refund balance, or one high-value transaction where the VAT treatment is unclear.
Bestax can step in at the point you need help and handle:
For a UAE-resident business, mandatory VAT registration applies when taxable supplies and imports exceed AED 375,000 over the previous 12 months, or are expected to exceed that amount in the next 30 days. Voluntary registration is available when taxable supplies, imports or taxable expenses exceed AED 187,500 under the FTA conditions.
Bestax reviews taxable and exempt turnover before preparing the application, because using total bank receipts or total revenue without classifying the transactions can produce the wrong answer.
When registration is the immediate issue, we handle the application through our VAT Registration Services and then help your finance team prepare for the first tax period.
Registered businesses must file the VAT return and pay the related VAT within 28 days from the end of the tax period shown in EmaraTax. Bestax prepares the return from reconciled records and checks unusual movements before submission.

Businesses that only need periodic filing can use our VAT Return Filing Services, while higher-risk cases can be combined with a wider VAT health check.
What the pre-filing review covers
The same 5% VAT rate can lead to different results depending on the place of supply, customer status, contract, import route, free-zone location or nature of the supply. Our VAT consultancy services in Abu Dhabi focus on the documents and transaction flow before giving an answer.
5%
one rate, and a different answer per transaction
If the issue is not only advice but your full VAT process, link this work with VAT Implementation Services so the approved treatment is reflected in invoices, tax codes and accounting controls.
We advise on situations such as:
Advice before the invoice, recovery without overclaiming, refunds that survive review, and errors corrected on the right route.
Some VAT questions should be resolved before the invoice is issued, not after the return is filed. Our VAT advisory services in Abu Dhabi help management, finance teams and business owners document the position before a high-value or unusual transaction is completed. Where published FTA guidance does not give enough certainty for a specific fact pattern, Bestax can structure the technical analysis and supporting documents for a private clarification request.
Recovering input VAT is not simply a matter of taking every VAT amount shown on supplier invoices. The business must hold the required evidence, meet the recovery conditions and consider blocked, restricted or apportioned input tax where relevant. Bestax reviews high-value input claims, mixed-use expenses and unusual supplier transactions before they are included in the return.
Accurate recovery starts with accurate bookkeeping. Our Accounting and Bookkeeping Services keep VAT evidence and accounting entries aligned throughout the year.
A refundable balance can be carried forward or, where the conditions are met, claimed from the FTA. Bestax reviews the underlying return, invoices and supporting reports before a refund application is filed. The FTA's registered-taxpayer refund service requires a request through EmaraTax and can call for output and input tax reports, invoices and other supporting evidence.
If you find a historical VAT error, the first step is to quantify it and identify the periods affected. Bestax reviews the original returns, accounting records and supporting documents, then determines the correct correction route under the Tax Procedures framework. Where a voluntary disclosure is required, we prepare the corrected figures and supporting explanation rather than filing a number without a clear audit trail.
Federal Decree-Law No. 16 of 2025 took effect on 1 January 2026 and changed several VAT procedures. Bestax applies these changes when reviewing your current controls and transactions.
Taxable persons applying the reverse charge mechanism are no longer required to issue self-invoices, but supporting documents must still be retained as required.
A five-year time limit now applies to requests to recover excess refundable tax after reconciliation.
The FTA can deny input tax deductions where it determines that the supply forms part of a tax-evasion arrangement.
VAT guidance and transaction directives continue to be updated, including new FTA VAT directives published in July 2026.
Why this matters
A VAT policy written two or three years ago should not be treated as permanent. Bestax reviews the rule that applies to the transaction and period you are dealing with now.
Three questions that depend on your structure rather than on your last return.
Related UAE legal persons that meet the FTA conditions can apply to form a VAT Tax Group. This can change registration, return filing and the treatment of transactions between members. Bestax reviews the ownership and control structure, turnover and operational impact before preparing a tax group application or amendment.
When the FTA asks questions, the response should match the return, accounting records and supporting documents. If the matter develops into a tax audit, assessment, reconsideration or clarification issue, we keep the technical position and supporting records connected so the business is not giving different explanations at different stages.
Where the accounting records themselves need deeper testing, we can coordinate the VAT work with Auditing Services.
VAT is a federal UAE tax, so Abu Dhabi businesses deal with the Federal Tax Authority through EmaraTax. The transaction facts can differ significantly between mainland businesses, free-zone entities, designated zones, importers, property businesses and companies serving customers outside the UAE. Bestax reviews the actual supply chain rather than assuming the company's licence location decides the VAT treatment.
Six steps, from the first question to a written record your team can follow.
Tell us whether you need registration, a return, a transaction review, a refund, a correction or FTA support.
We check the relevant licence, contracts, invoices, accounting data, import records and previous VAT filings.
We map the facts to the current VAT law, Executive Regulation and applicable FTA guidance.
Where needed, we correct tax codes, invoices, reconciliations or historical accounting before filing.
We prepare the required registration, return, refund, disclosure, clarification or other filing and support the implementation.
You receive a clear record of what was done and what your team should follow going forward.
A VAT adviser is more useful when the tax answer connects with the accounting records that support it. Bestax combines tax, accounting and audit experience so issues can be fixed at the source instead of being carried from one return to the next.

A UAE-resident business must register when taxable supplies and imports exceed AED 375,000 over the previous 12 months or are expected to exceed that threshold in the next 30 days. Voluntary registration can be available above AED 187,500 under the FTA rules.
No. The standard UAE VAT rate is 5%, but some supplies are zero-rated or exempt, and some transactions can fall outside the scope or be affected by special place-of-supply or reverse-charge rules.
Yes. We can perform a pre-filing review of sales, purchases, imports, input tax, adjustments and reconciliations, then give your team the corrected figures and issues to address.
Yes. We review whether the balance is supportable, reconcile the periods and prepare the refund file and supporting evidence before a request is submitted through EmaraTax.
Do not change figures in a later return without first reviewing the correction rules. Bestax can quantify the error, identify the affected period and determine whether it should be corrected through the return mechanism or a voluntary disclosure.
Yes, when their transactions create UAE VAT questions. A free-zone licence does not by itself determine the VAT treatment. Designated-zone rules, movement of goods, customer location and the type of supply can all matter.
Yes. We can organise the records, reconcile the tax position and prepare responses. The exact support depends on whether the matter is an information request, audit, assessment, reconsideration or another FTA process.
Legal persons that meet the FTA eligibility conditions can apply for VAT Tax Group registration. We review the structure and operational impact before preparing the application.
Key changes include removal of the self-invoice requirement under the reverse charge mechanism, a five-year limit for certain excess refundable tax claims, and stronger rules allowing the FTA to deny input tax linked to tax-evasion arrangements.
Send the trade licence, VAT certificate or TRN if registered, recent VAT returns, trial balance or accounting reports, sales and purchase data, and a short explanation of the issue. We will tell you what additional documents are actually needed.
