Tell us what you will sell, where your customers are and how many visas you need. We confirm the jurisdiction, the licence and the tax position before anything is filed.
Start With the Right Structure, Not Just the Cheapest Licence
A low-cost licence can become expensive when it does not support your activity, office needs, visa plan, banking profile or target market. Before filing an application, we review what your business will sell, where your customers are located, how many visas you need and how money will move through the company.
- What your business will sell
- Where your customers are located
- How many visas you need
- How money will move through the company

What the early review avoids
This early review helps you avoid:
- Licence amendments
- Rejected bank applications
- Unnecessary office costs
- Tax problems after launch
Business Registration Dubai: Mainland, Free Zone or Offshore?
Dubai offers several setup routes. The right option depends on where you plan to trade, the type of licence required, your office needs and whether you need UAE residence visas.
Mainland Company
- Licensed through Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism.
- Can generally trade across the UAE and internationally.
- Suitable for local retail, restaurants, contracting and many service businesses.
- Full foreign ownership is available for many activities, subject to activity rules.
Free Zone Company
- Licensed by the selected free-zone authority.
- Often suits consulting, technology, e-commerce, trading and international operations.
- Provides full foreign ownership and different workspace options.
- Corporate tax at 0% is not automatic. It applies only to qualifying income when all legal conditions are met.
Offshore Company
- Usually used for holding assets or conducting business outside the UAE.
- Does not normally provide a UAE residence visa or a standard operating presence.
- Cannot be treated as a substitute for a mainland or free-zone operating licence.
- Banking approval depends on the structure, activity, owners and source of funds.
Business Registration Dubai Checklist
Choose the jurisdiction only after checking activity approval, customer location, office requirements, visa allocation, banking expectations and tax treatment.
- Activity approval
- Customer location
- Office requirements
- Visa allocation
- Banking expectations
- Tax treatment
How to Register a Company in Dubai
The exact process changes by jurisdiction and activity. Most applications follow the steps below.
Confirm the business activity
Your licence must clearly cover the products or services you plan to offer. Some regulated activities need approval from another authority.
Choose the jurisdiction
Select mainland, a suitable free zone or an offshore jurisdiction based on your market, operations and residency needs.
Select the legal form
Options may include an LLC, sole establishment, civil company, branch, free-zone company or other approved form.
Reserve the trade name
The name must meet the licensing authority's rules and must not conflict with an existing registered name.
Apply for initial approval
The licensing authority reviews the owners, proposed activity and basic company information.
Prepare legal documents
The required documents may include a memorandum of association, shareholder resolutions, branch documents or other authority forms.
Secure the required workspace
The office, desk, warehouse or lease requirement depends on the jurisdiction, activity and visa plan.
Receive the business licence
The licence is issued after the authority approves the application and the required government charges are paid.
Complete post-licence registrations
This may include immigration and establishment files, labour registration, visas, bank account support, corporate tax, VAT and accounting setup.
Documents Commonly Needed for Registration
The final list depends on the owners, legal structure and activity. We confirm the exact requirements before submission so you do not prepare unnecessary documents.
- Passport copies for shareholders, directors and managers
- UAE visa and Emirates ID copies, when applicable
- Proof of residential address, when requested
- Proposed trade names and business activity details
- Passport photographs, when required
- No-objection certificate, if required for the applicant's situation
- Business plan or professional qualifications for selected regulated activities
- Parent-company documents for a branch or corporate shareholder
- Lease, workspace or facility documents required by the licensing authority
Online Company Registration in Dubai
Many licensing steps can now be completed digitally through Dubai government or free-zone platforms. Online company registration in Dubai may allow document submission, name reservation, initial approval and payment without repeated office visits.
Remote setup is not identical for every applicant. Identity checks, document legalisation, regulated-activity approvals, immigration steps, medical testing and bank onboarding may still require additional action or physical presence.
Often possible online
- Document submission
- Name reservation
- Initial approval
- Payment
May still need action or presence
- Identity checks
- Document legalisation
- Regulated-activity approvals
- Immigration steps
- Medical testing
- Bank onboarding

Company Formation in Dubai Airport Free Zone
Dubai Airport Freezone, commonly called DAFZ, is located next to Dubai International Airport and is designed for businesses that value international connectivity, logistics access and a recognised free-zone address.
Company formation in Dubai Airport Free Zone generally involves choosing an approved licence, selecting the company type and selecting a suitable workspace. DAFZ states that it offers two company setup types and flexible licence and space options.
DAFZ can suit trading, logistics, technology, aviation-related services and international businesses, but the final choice should be based on the approved activity, facility cost, customs position, visa needs and expected customer base.
Base the final choice on
- Approved activity
- Facility cost
- Customs position
- Visa needs
- Expected customer base
Important tax point
A DAFZ licence does not automatically mean that every profit is taxed at 0%. A free-zone company must meet the Qualifying Free Zone Person conditions, and only qualifying income may receive the 0% corporate tax rate.
What Does Company Registration Cost?
There is no single price for every company. The total depends on the authority, licence, activities, legal form, shareholders, visa allocation, workspace, external approvals and optional support services.
| Cost area | What changes the cost |
|---|---|
| Licence and registration | Jurisdiction, licence category, number of activities and legal form |
| Office or workspace | Physical office, flexi-desk, warehouse, retail space or regulated premises |
| Immigration and visas | Establishment file, investor visa, employee visas, medical and Emirates ID |
| External approvals | Sector-specific approvals for regulated activities |
| Banking preparation | Business plan, ownership documents and compliance file |
| Tax and accounting setup | Corporate tax, VAT review, bookkeeping process and reporting needs |
We provide a clear estimate before you commit. The quote should show government charges, workspace, visa-related costs and professional fees separately.

Tax and Compliance After Your Licence Is Issued
A trade licence is the beginning of compliance, not the end. Your company must be set up correctly for tax, records, staff and banking from its first day.
Corporate Tax
The standard UAE corporate tax rates are 0% on taxable income up to AED 375,000 and 9% on taxable income above AED 375,000. Qualifying Free Zone Persons may receive 0% on qualifying income and 9% on taxable income that is not qualifying income.
Corporate tax registration and return filing duties can apply even when no tax is payable. Eligible resident businesses may also elect for Small Business Relief when the legal conditions are met. For eligible tax periods, revenue must not exceed AED 3 million in the current and all previous relevant tax periods.
VAT
A UAE-resident business must register for VAT when taxable supplies and imports exceed AED 375,000 over the previous 12 months, or are expected to exceed that amount in the next 30 days. Voluntary registration may be available when taxable supplies, imports or taxable expenses exceed AED 187,500.
Accounting Records
Keep invoices, contracts, bank records, expense evidence and ownership documents organised from the start. Good accounting records make tax registration, return filing, audits and bank reviews easier.
Employees and Payroll
Companies that hire staff may need labour registration, employment contracts, payroll processes and Wage Protection System compliance, depending on the jurisdiction and employee category.
Beneficial Ownership and Regulated Activities
Ownership information must be accurate and kept current. Businesses in regulated sectors may also have industry-specific approvals, anti-money-laundering duties or audit requirements.
Common Registration Mistakes That Cost More Later
- Choosing a licence because it is cheap, without checking whether it covers the real activity
- Selecting a free zone that does not fit the target market or required facility
- Assuming every free-zone company automatically pays 0% corporate tax
- Using a vague business description that creates problems during bank onboarding
- Underestimating visa, office, renewal and external approval costs
- Waiting too long to organise corporate tax, VAT and accounting records
- Believing that a consultant can guarantee bank account approval
- Registering several activities without checking whether they can sit under one licence

What Clients Say About Bestax
Founders who came to us for a licence and stayed for the accounting, the tax registrations and the filings that followed.

Had my first corporate tax filing done through Bestax. They offered a tax planning session that was extremely helpful, especially because I was unsure what expenses could be deducted legally. They kinda guided me through the whole process because, as a healthcare professional, I had no clue how things work around here.
I'm very pleased with the support provided by Athira and her team in completing my Transfer Pricing report and filing the Corporate Tax returns for my company. They are highly responsive, and the quality of their work and reports is truly excellent.
Very smooth and efficient service to open a freezone company. Even while sitting in canada. They are great. Highly highly recommend.
Bestax have been managing my accounts for the past 1 year now and I must say they do an amazing job. My tax returns are always on time and I never faced any penalty.
Maham guided me through the business license renewal process. She even flagged upcoming compliance changes I had no clue about. It’s that extra attention to detail that makes Bestax stand out.
Anusha at Bestax keeps our financials in top shape. Her budgeting advice has improved our cash flow significantly. Highly reliable team!
